A reader noted that the first three and a half years of the seventieth week of Daniel (the seven year period that people most people refer to as the “tribulation”) is going to be relatively “calm” compared to the time period following the midway point of the seventieth week of Daniel. The reader asked me if I had any ideas about why the “the FIRST 3 1/2 years seem relatively calm compared to the final 3 1/2 years?”
My response to the reader’s question is quite long so I might as well share my response with everyone just in case others might have a similar question or might want to read about this topic from my perspective…
- Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
- Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
- Mat 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
- Mat 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
- Mat 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
- Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
- Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
- Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Therefore, the second half of the seventieth week of Daniel will include the most trying time in history, so any trying time period before it or after it cannot match it. However, before I continue it’s important to note that Christ said that He will cut the great tribulation short for the sake of the elect because there would be no one left to save if it is not cut short.
- Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Therefore, it’s possible (and I think probable) that the period of great tribulation that Christ referred to in Matthew 24:21 may not last the entire remaining three and half years of the seventieth week of Daniel. It's cut short for the sake of the elect.
Nevertheless, while it is true that the first three and half years of the seventieth week of Daniel are going to be relatively “calm” compared to the second half of the seventieth week of Daniel, it does not mean that the first three and half years of the seventieth week of Daniel are going to be a pleasant time on Earth.
In fact, I believe it’s highly unlikely that the first three and half years of the seventieth week of Daniel will be a good time to live on Earth. One reason is that I believe the concept of birth pangs is likely applicable to the End Times as well as it is before the End Times begin. Therefore, I believe it’s likely that wars, rumors of wars, famines, pestilence, earthquakes, etc. will be prevalent during this three and a half year period but at much greater frequency and intensity than today.
- War definitely is going to be something that will exist during that time period. Revelation 6:4 mentions that peace will be removed from the earth.
Although the first three and half years of the seventieth week of Daniel are probably not going to be a good time to live on Earth, there is a window of opportunity for people on Earth at that time to prepare themselves for the great tribulation. The Antichrist is unlikely going to openly persecute a lot of people who oppose him on religious grounds during these first three and half years because he will be busy building his kingdom. In addition, the punitive Mark of the Beast system won’t be instituted yet since Antichrist won’t yet have the control over the planet to implement and enforce it.
- In other words, probably the main reason why the first three and half years of the seventieth week of Daniel is a relatively more “calm” period of time than the second half is that the Antichrist is going to be focused on accumulating power rather than wielding his power to make life miserable for everyone on Earth who opposes him. Once Antichrist gains control of the world he will then persecute and seek to eliminate those who oppose him with the full force of the power he's acquired.
Again, there will be an opportunity to prepare even after the seventieth week of Daniel begins. However, once that window of opportunity is shut it’ll probably be very difficult for many opponents of Antichrist to do much else besides try to survive…

Thanks for your thoughtful explanation.
I just pray we will see the start of the tribulation period when it happens.
Any ideas or clues on how we will definately know it has started?
In Christ
I'll probably attempt to address that question in the next article. If I am unable to address that question in the next few days check back here.
Yes the first half has to be relatively peaceful and quiet because the anti-christ will bring `peace`? He will be adored for his ability to cause this world peace. I think(just how I see it) the Big Brother system will prevent corruption and make it impossible to steal or murder-your every move will be traced-so nowhere to run after a crime is committed. BUT he can flip the page at midpoint? Maybe Christians and Jews will be persecuted during the `peaceful` time because people are so brainwashed that these groups are causing the world`s problems-that it will only be `good riddance `. Right now George Clooney`s organization: `Not on our watch` is utilizing satellites to watch Sudan-if any genocide is in the making. Creepy that they can `watch` in detail what is happening in no go areas!

I didn't know that "Not On Our Watch" was monitoring people in the region via satellite until you mentioned it. I just checked their website and they are! I also noticed that the U.N. has a role in this. Interesting...
I agree,,..interesting-with the UN linked in as well
I reviewed the website further. They seem to lack real-time satellite photos. However, the website said that this is part of an experiment so maybe there could be real-time tracking in the future elsewhere depending on the results of this experiment.
.There are plans now to rebuild the 3rd Temple in Jerusalem ,infact everything that are needed for the offering , garments of the high priest ,crown worth millions of dollars of pure gold ,stones cut by diamonds etc,are already in place and ready .Soon the temple be rebuilt ,and there we are ,just in the same generation to see all these prophecies before our eyes .Whe the temple is there standing , the time awaits where the antichrist be revealed . If we look at what's happening in Iran today and the propaganda of the 12th Imam coming too , it gets us into the count down to a big war ,perhaps mentioned of Psalm 83 .
I had been looking earnestly at many different interpretations of the prophecy and especially the rapture .But don't you think since we are seeing all these , the rapture will be anytime soon ...pre tribulation of mid tribulation ,it doesn't count to me or maybe to most you here as we are saved through Jesus .
To be honest I would like to see how people ,the unbelievers would react when they saw God's Almighty power to intervene ,and how the false prophets be put to shame . How muslims hoping for their 12th Imam will be shocked and realized Jesus is the truth and our God is the real God after the Gog and Magog war . But perhaps all of us are already raptured and will not be able to observed that .
Things are getting hotter in this prophetic countdown . Perceiving and waiting for the rapture is an excitement and hope for everyone .
I think we are currently seeing events that will help prepare the world for the End Times, but there is still some more things that need to happen around the world before the world is completely ready for it.
They finished an altar a year ago around Christmas and tried to get permission to put it on the Temple Mount to offer a sacrifice. They said they don't need the temple to be up to start the sacrifices. There are videos on Youtube of them building it. I saw a finished picture. It is quite beautiful. I think they said they could have the building up in about 3 months time as everything is pre-fab. I believe they even have the red heifers now.
Regarding the days mentioned in Daniel; Ezekiel 4:6 says "...I have appointed thee each day for a year." Number 14:34 "After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise." Do you think the days mentioned in Daniel have two meanings? One being a physical day and the other being a physical year?
At this point, I think the 2300 day prophecy in Daniel 8 is limited to 2300 days. However, once I'm done with the Ezekiel 38, Ezekiel 39, Babylon the Great, Egypt, Libya etc study my attention is likely going to shift to that (I have a write up on the topic of Daniel 8 partially completed). I've seen people argue that Daniel 8 is a 2300 year prophecy and I've seen some people suggest that the 2300 days falls somewhere in the End Times.
Very interesting times we are at . Great to know other views and insights here .Get ready brothers and sisters in Christs ,it wont be long .
