I’ve spent the past several days trying to piece together several Bible prophecy verses and chapters that I’ve been studying over the past several months with the hope that I can soon begin to write a series of detailed articles about several End Times related events including Gog’s invasion, the northern army mentioned in Joel, and clash of kings described in Daniel 11:40-45. As I was piecing together some of these verses and chapters, I noticed that there may be a potential relationship between Zechariah 12:2 and Ezekiel 7.

An Update on 2011’s Large Magnitude Earthquake Activity

Yesterday a 5.8 magnitude earthquake in Virginia dominated news headlines in the U.S. For those living outside the U.S. who may wonder why a 5.8 magnitude earthquake would be the top news story in the U.S., most people living on the east coast of the U.S. are not accustomed to experiencing earthquakes like other areas of the world and like other areas of the U.S.

After watching U.S. television news coverage of the earthquake, including one television show where the host wondered whether we are seeing an increase in earthquake activity, I thought it would be a good idea to provide an update on where we stand this year versus other years in terms of large magnitude earthquake activity.

Earlier this year I published a study about trends in magnitude 7.0 and greater earthquake activity over the past 100 years and a study about trends in magnitude 8.0 and greater earthquake activity over the past 100 years. Magnitude 8.0 and greater earthquakes are so rare that there is no need at this time to update that study (in fact, none have occurred since I published my studies). However, there have been several magnitude 7.0 and greater earthquakes since I published my study about trends in magnitude 7.0 and greater earthquake activity earlier this year.

Some Factors that May Influence What Happens in Syria

As Gaddafi’s regime crumbles, people’s attention is beginning to shift towards the situation in Syria. The unrest in Syria appears to be something that is going to continue for some time to come. Syrian President Bashar Assad has been trying to end the protests against his regime by ordering his forces to engage in violent crackdowns in cities which have seen some of the largest protests (i.e. Hama and Homs). However, anti-Assad protesters have not given up as demonstrated by the thousands of Syrians who called for the ouster of Assad last Friday.

As people begin to pay more attention to what is happening in Syria, I thought it would be useful to highlight some important factors that may influence what eventually happens in Syria. Therefore, today I highlight some important factors that may influence what eventually happens in Syria.

Another Thing to Watch? Hamas and Israel

Update 8/22: After saying that they no longer abide by a truce/cease-fire last week, Hamas now claims they’re willing to agree to one. An Israeli official was quoted saying in response: “Israel is monitoring the implementation of the cease-fire. If they continue the shooting, we'll respond accordingly."

After sharing a theory concerning the 6th trumpet and many Bible prophecy verses, I want to alert everyone to news that just came out concerning Hamas and Israel. Reuters reports that Hamas has called for an end to a truce with Israel that reportedly has been in effect since 2009. Reuters reports that a statement read on a Hamas-owned radio station in Gaza included the following:

"There is no longer any truce with the enemy"

The Reuters report notes that the statement read on Hamas radio could possibly pave “the way for Hamas to escalate the violence with Israel”.

It should be noted again that Hamas reportedly has tried to dissociate itself from the Palestinian Authority’s effort to ask the U.N. to deal with the issue of Palestinian statehood next month. By dissociating itself from the Palestinian Authority’s U.N. bid, Hamas positioned itself to make political gains if the Palestinian Authority's U.N. bid fails and showed that it prefers to not deal with an issue involving Israel diplomatically (which is unsurprising since Hamas refuses to recognize Israel). Based on the tone of rhetoric in the radio statement, Hamas is threatening to use violence to deal with Israel again…

The potential for significant escalation of hostilities between Hamas and Israel appears to be another thing that we’ll need to watch in the coming days, weeks, and months.

A Theory Involving the 6th Trumpet & Many Bible Prophecy Verses

The sixth trumpet is one of the most interesting future events described in the Book of Revelation. The passage concerning the sixth trumpet describes the slaying of a third of mankind by 200 million horsemen after four angels are released from the Euphrates River:

• Rev 9:13 And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
• Rev 9:14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
• Rev 9:15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.
• Rev 9:16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.
• Rev 9:17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.
• Rev 9:18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
• Rev 9:19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.
• Rev 9:20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
• Rev 9:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

Euro Bonds: A Potential Catalyst Towards Bringing Fiscal Union to Europe

Clarification for why I write about the European sovereign debt crisis for new readers: There are a lot of people who believe that the European Union could someday be a significant End Times player. If the European Union were to become a significant End Times player it would likely need to have much more political cohesion amongst its member countries than it has now. The process to create more political cohesion in Europe is a complicated one that is likely going to require more cohesion in areas like fiscal policy (taxation and spending) first as political union often represents the final step of integration.

I sometimes write about issues relating to the ongoing European sovereign debt crisis because I believe the crisis is a potential catalyst that could push European leaders to agree to more cohesion in areas like fiscal policy. In other words, the ongoing turmoil in Europe is a potential event that could help Europe become more like the Europe that many people envision it will resemble during the End Times. With this clarification out of the way, I now share today’s article relating to the European sovereign debt crisis.

Thoughts on Sarkozy & Merkel’s Proposal to Create Eurozone Government

I was close to publishing a different article about Europe’s potential move towards fiscal union and eventually political union. However, news just came out not too long ago about how French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have introduced a proposal which they hope will serve as a solution to the European sovereign debt crisis. The proposal the two leaders have agreed upon is being described as “collective government”.

There is not a lot known yet about the proposal that Merkel and Sarkozy have agreed to, but today I’ll share a summary of what I’ve found so far after examining various articles about the issue and provide you with some of my thoughts on what they've proposed.

Electronic Skin Technology & the Mark of the Beast

Many of you probably know by now that a team of researchers have developed a new technology that will enable people to wear an electronic circuit on their skin like it is a temporary tattoo. The technology is known as an epidermal electronic system or what some call “electronic skin”. The technology reportedly “could transform medical sensing, computer gaming and even spy operations”.

Electronic skin can be applied to many places on the human body. For instance, electronic skin was applied to a human arm in the upcoming video below. In addition, some articles about electronic skin include a photo of a man who is peeling off the electronic skin that he wore on his forehead. The photo can be found at the following: link

Professor Yonggang Huang, a Northwestern engineering professor who worked on this technology, noted:

“The blurring of electronics and biology is really the key point here. All established forms of electronics are hard, rigid. Biology is soft, elastic. It's two different worlds. This is a way to truly integrate them.”

Like with many new technologies that place electronics on a person’s skin, there is speculation about whether electronic skin technology represents the Mark of the Beast. For instance, the Drudge Report gave the story about electronic skin the headline: "Mark OF THE BEAST? Electronic tattoo has medical, gaming, spy uses..." In addition, I've found multiple online forums that have discussion threads speculating about this topic.

A Link to a Study on the Rise of Restrictions on Religion

Today I thought it would a good idea to share a few links to a new research study on the rising restrictions on religion across the globe because we often hear about governments or social groups acting against religious groups. For instance, the burning of Coptic churches in Egypt garnered a lot of attention just a few months ago.

The research study about the rise of restrictions on religion was conducted by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. The study covers 198 countries over a recent three year period (July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2009). To summarize Pew’s main findings:

• 23 countries saw an increase in restrictions on religious beliefs and practices while 12 countries saw a decrease during the three year period.
• Nearly 1/3 of the world’s population faced greater government restrictions on religion or faced greater social hostility towards religion during the three year period. This is primarily due to an increase in religious restrictions and/or social hostility towards religion in some of the most populous countries in the world.

What I'm Watching For After S&P’s Downgrade of the U.S.’s Credit Rating

The big news over the past few days and likely days to come is the downgrade of the United State’s credit rating by S&P's credit rating agency from AAA (the highest-rating possible) to AA+.

• A country’s credit rating is equivalent to a person’s credit score. Therefore, the downgrade of the U.S.’s credit rating by S&P represents the downgrade of the U.S.’s credit score. There are two other major U.S. credit rating agencies (Moody’s and Fitch) that may decide to later downgrade the U.S.’s credit rating from AAA.

Many pundits have been interviewed about what they think is going to happen now that the U.S. credit rating has been downgraded. I’m not a pundit, but I’ll attempt to explain what I am watching for following downgrade of the U.S.’s credit rating. I’ll attempt to relate the implications of this downgrade to the bigger picture.

Finding Parallels Between Habakkuk 2 & Isaiah 14 and Why This May Relate to Babylon

I’ve mentioned a variety of verses and chapters over the past several weeks which may relate to Babylon the Great, including Revelation 17, Revelation 18, Jeremiah 50, Jeremiah 51, Isaiah 13, Isaiah 14, Isaiah 24, and Isaiah 47. One chapter that I have not yet mentioned which may also relate to Babylon the Great is Habakkuk 2.

Today I’ll discuss some of the parallels between Habakkuk 2 and Isaiah 14 and discuss how Habakkuk 2 could be a relevant chapter when studying the topic of Babylon the Great.

My Thoughts on the Blood-Red Lake in Texas

Many of you probably know by now that there is a lake in Texas whose water has turned blood-red in color due to the growth of bacteria that thrives in oxygen-deprived water. You may also have heard that some people are speculating that this recent event in Texas is a sign that the End Times are approaching.

• Many major news websites are publishing articles about an Indiana pastor who made a Youtube video discussing how he believed that what happened at the lake in Texas is a sign that the End Times are near. He did not directly say that what happened at the lake in Texas was the fulfillment of specific passages in the Book of Revelation. However, he did suggest that the similarity between what happened at the lake in Texas and what is prophesied by certain passages in the Book of Revelation qualified as a sign that the End Times are near.

Some Observations After Watching “Ghost Adventures” For the First Time

This past Saturday night I was asked by someone to watch a couple of episodes of the television show Ghost Adventures which airs on the Travel Channel in the U.S. I agreed to watch a couple of episodes because I was curious about what the show was about (I had not heard of the show until the person mentioned the show to me).

I was disturbed by what I saw while I watched a couple of episodes. Today I share some of my observations of what I saw in case there are other people who are curious about what I think about the show.
